Strength in God

Sometimes when the daily gets bumpy my human heart and mind takes over. I question why this or that may be happening. It is very easy to get caught up in these thoughts, isn’t it?

We see alot of “quick” Bible quotes all over the internet, clothing, coffee mugs, and more. But, in times of distress are we simply stating those “quick verses” in “quick prayer” and expecting God to just fix everything?

https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Psalms-Chapter-18/

After reading the above, I know to receive His strength in anything, He must know us and be happy with our walk and life in Him. The verses below stuck with me personally….

(Pslam 18: 19. He delivered me because he delighted in me. 20. The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. 21. For i have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

I want more than the “quick way”. I want to know when I come to the Father, He knows me!! I want my life to be focused on ONLY HIM, His word, His instruction, so when I need His strength, the words in the above verses are shown in my life and He will provide the strength I need when I call upon Him, no matter the situation.

God’s will for my life (and yours too) is so very easy. Follow Him. Follow His word.

and He will be your STRENGTH ❤️

Psalm28

1Unto thee will I cry, O Lord my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.

Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.

Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.

Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.

Because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.

Blessed be the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

9 Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.

God is Not Limited

Acts 17:24-31 kjv

24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

The fact that God is outside His creation means that God sees everything.

Thankful

A Name Upon The Wall

Written by my favorite veteran, my Daddy.

A Name Upon The Wall

We came back to our homeland,
With no fanfare, none at all.
Into a world that seemed the same,
But now…. there is a wall.

After many years they built it.
It is long, and cold, and black.
And carved into it’s darkness….
Are those who can’t come back.

For those of us who did come home
After Saigon took the fall,
We wondered if… The fight was worth
The names upon the wall.

We know we did our duty
But it took a dreadful toll
Upon our minds and bodies,
Upon our very soul.

It’s always been this way, I’m sure,
When the battles all are done.
And the only ones who understand
Are the fathers of the sons.

The fathers fought another war,
And they fought it standing tall.
And they prayed their sons would never be
A name upon the wall.

So, if you go and touch that wall
My name you will not see.
For in His Grace and Goodness,
God had other plans for me.

For He had mercy on this child,
While others He did call.
My name is in His “Book of Life”,
And it’s not….
Upon
The Wall.

Studying American History

As some of you know, I homeschool my youngest. This year we are starting American History from the beginning. I am always looking for unique information to add to our lessons. I ran across this site and it is a great one!!!

https://theforgottensouth.com/rodney-mississippi-ghost-town-history-tour/

This particular story is about one of the first towns to be settled in Mississippi. There are many more on that site, listed below

And I say Thank you to them for a great resource!!!

Quiet Time

We all know life gets crazy busy and we all feel rushed and tired some days. Maybe most days.

So take a time out and….

Not just today, everyday!! Having time with God will give you strength, peace and comfort through our daily routine.

Routine….

We all have them. But do we include God? Do we put Him first?

Matthew 6:33 KJV

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

1 Corinthians 10:31 KJV

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

I challenge us all, each day to dedicate one on one time with Him! Pray & read His Word. Growing our relationship with Him is important for us to find direction in our life according to His will. To find hope when it seems all is lost. To learn how to live and love like Jesus should be our goal. And most important, we will receive the knowledge to tell others about Jesus and what He did for us.

After all, that is why we are all here!! 💕

Colossians 3:16 & 17 KJV

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Find your quiet time EACH and EVERYDAY with Him!!

Stay Little Just A Little Longer💕

As many of you know, we homeschool. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity! I worked a full time job during my daughter’s earlier years, I feel like I missed so much time with her.

God made a way!! He had a plan!! ❤️

We are in our second year of being together daily and homeschooling. Some days go very smooth and others not so much. Ha! She may think I am her “teacher”, but honestly, she is teaching me. I’m learning more about her. How her mind processes school subjects and her creative side. It’s wonderful!!

We truly learn together!!

Today we did a little valentines craft, with a paper roll, glue, construction paper. As we were searching for ideas on what craft we would do, it warmed my heart when she picked this one. For I know it won’t be long and these cute simple little crafts will no longer be exciting for her. She soon will grow out of the cuteness of it all.

Just like all children do, so quickly, she will leave this stage and move on to the next….

So today, I enjoyed this moment, of little paper and glue everywhere!! I soaked up the sweet smile on her face as she sees her creation become a cute little mouse. I listened to the sounds of her humming Jesus loves Me, and answered questions that pop into her mind as she is gluing. I will hang on to these memories for a lifetime and treasure them!!

Ohhh sweet daughter, Just stay little a little longer!! ❤️

Everything…..

Happy Friday everybody!! I want to share these verses today with you. They were the last 2 in my morning Bible reading. As I looked up the meaning of the passages, to see if my understanding is what the His Word really meant. (That can be very interesting to find correct meanings since there are so many variations of the word.) I came across the below commentary, and I really like the simplicity and how he explains these verses.

I would encourage you to read the whole chapter from Ecclesiastes 12 and then visit the below blog and read the whole commentary.

As commentator Phil Ryken says, “The final message of Ecclesiastes is not that nothing matters in the end but that everything matters in the end.” And the proof is here in these two verses. One day, you will stand before God and give an account. He will bring every deed into judgment. It’s only right that he will. He created you. He cares about what happens in your life, and what you do with your life, and he has the right to judge the outcome of your life. One day, very soon, you will report in to him to receive his judgment. Because that day is coming, every day matters for that day.

Examine & Transform Through Love

Colossians Chapter 3

Challenging believers to examine our lives, let go of the old and be transformed through the love of Jesus.

Col.3

[1] If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
[2] Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
[3] For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
[4] When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
[5] Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
[6] For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
[7] In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
[8] But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
[9] Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
[10] And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
[11] Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
[12] Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
[13] Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
[14] And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
[15] And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
[16] Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
[17] And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
[18] Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
[19] Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
[20] Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
[21] Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
[22] Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
[23] And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
[24] Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
[25] But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!! Let this real life story my Daddy, (Bob Meadows) wrote take you back to Christmas in #southside #winstonsalem #nc 1962 🎄❤️❄️#inhonorofmy daddy

CHRISTMAS EVE

It was cold that night. Christmas eve, 1962, in the southside of Winston-Salem. The sun had ended it’s day an hour before and the night was dark as we headed for the old 1959 Chevy station wagon parked under the yellow glow of the corner street light. This was to be our last Christmas eve ride together, for things would change, as they always do. But, for tonight we were still a family of children and parents on our way to view a Nativity Scene down Sprague Street, toward town.
The old car groaned and growled when Daddy turned the key, but finally decided to turn over and warm itself against the freezing night air. Momma and Daddy sat in the huge front seat, the three girls behind them and I crawled over into the rear facing “far-back” seat. It was really cold back there, but it was my favorite place to ride… watching where we had been instead of where we were going.
We were all bundled up, knowing that in a few minutes we would be standing before Southside Baptist Church, gazing at a spectacle that had gone on for many years, just as it would tonight. As daddy pulled away from our little house on the corner, in front of the new Hill Junior High, I looked through the frosted back window at the colorful twinkle of our Christmas tree lights shining through the living room window, casting a multi-colored glow onto the porch and into the little front yard. The car was always parked facing five points when at our house and was far to big to make a u-turn in the middle of Sprague, so daddy navigated up Tryon where we would turn left onto Waughtown and eventually, left on Vargrave and back to Sprague. We would all “oooooo and aahhhh” and point at all the Christmas decorations as the giant Chevy lumbered slowly on. We all knew that the car would still be cold even as daddy found a place to park near the church, but we were prepared. Daddy found a good spot and we all piled out. Mamma reminded me to watch for cars to keep me from being road kill on Christmas eve and we made the short journey to worship the baby Jesus in the still night air of southside.
We were barely in sight of the big Baptist church, but could hear the strains of “Silent Night” coming from the loud speakers outside the church. Our pace picked up because we knew that the program was about to begin without us.
Families stood all around the sidewalks in front of the church. Children, to young to understand, whined about the cold and about Santa passing their homes because they were not there.
And then I saw HER. High above the manger, up there in that cold, crisp winter sky was an angel. A real live angel with her arms open wide to call in those who had come to see the miracle. I was a little guy, but that captured my attention. It was a sweet and special service. Everyone there seemed to enjoy the reminder of what Christmas is really about. And as the program ended we were a little warmer, a little nicer to each other and a little closer to the baby, whose birth we celebrate. Christmas was, and is about family, and love, and giving. Just as the sound of “Joy to the World” echoed through the streets of southside so many Christmases ago, it is my hope that our memories will continue to remind us of who we are and where we came from. Merry Christmas to all.

Psalms Chapter 100

1 (A Psalm of praise.) Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
